Petroglyphs carved into smoke-blackened walls of cavate. The Kokopelli figures and other figures suggest this excavated cave was more than a dwelling, possibly a cave kiva for ceremonies by Ancestral Pueblo people. The location is near but outside of Bandelier National Monument, Pajarito Plateau, Jemez Mountains, New Mexico, © 1999, David A. Ponton (This historical record created 12/23/1999, medium format film.)
