Nankoweap ruins, room 4 door upper side 9/16/2015, showing little change since 1981. Remnants of wooden door lintels photographed in 1981 from a different angle, are unchanged since 1981, preserved by weather protection in the alcove, dry climate, and being within masonry. Wooden lintels are mostly construction aids. The stonework corbeling over the top of the opening, though not uniform, has provided enduring support. Grand Canyon National Park, © David A. Ponton
